Green Issues
Since 2006 we have been working to gain an understanding of the
greenhouse gas emissions that are attributable to Booths’ operations
including the activities of our supplier base in producing the goods
that we sell.
We published our first report internally in 2008 and since then we have been testing our assumptions and the methodology behind the way in which the data is collated. The business has put work streams in place with a view to delivering reductions in GHG emissions and carbon impact. So far these have been a success with reductions being made in the transportation of goods, construction and the use of gas, water and electricity. There are now decision support tools being used by our buyers to question the integrity of our procurement in such a way as to maintain the quality of our merchandise and the socio-economic benefit of nurturing a regional supplier base.
We are pleased to be able to share our 2010 Report which has been produced after a great deal of effort and the learnings of the past 4 years. We will now build on this work to ensure that Booths remains at the forefront of sustainable business development.
