Booths is giving football fans a true taste of this summer’s football bonanza by launching two new South African-inspired sausages.
Its Bobotie and Boerwors sausages will provide the perfect match to any of the international fixtures taking place between June 11 and July 11 2010.
The bangers are both traditional favourites from host nation South Africa.
Keith Parkinson says: “We want to give customers the chance to celebrate this major sporting event by enjoying some authentic South African cuisine.
“These two sausages are packed with all the spice and sunshine of South Africa. They will make the ideal banger for a summer barbeque whilst cheering England on to victory!”
Taking its name from the Afrikaan words for farmer (“boer”) and sausage (“wors”), the Boerwors sausage has a delicious spicy flavour.
It contains key Boerwors flavourings of pepper, coriander and nutmeg. They are best cooked on the grill or barbecued to bring out their smoky taste.
Pronounced ba-boor-tea, Bobotie is the national dish of South Africa and Booths new sausage incorporates all of its fruity key elements. Originating from Cape Malay, the Bobotie was brought to South Africa by Japanese immigrants in the 17th Century.
The sausage is flavoured with curry powder, cumin, lemon, pimento and apricots.
Both of the sausages are available in store now priced at £2.59 per pack.
Booths is also launching an international line-up of beers and wines to mark this summer’s football tournament. There will be a choice of new beers and wines plus a host of in store offers and deals.
