Extended hours for Artisan restaurant in Kendal

Booths is cooking up plans to turn its Artisan restaurant in Kendal into a popular evening dining spot.

The restaurant will open later on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays until 12 midnight and Sundays until 9pm from Friday 2nd July when diners will be able to enjoy an A La Carte menu.

The new operations manager at Artisan, Joel Kirkpatrick, says: “The revamped Artisan has a fresh look  and will offer diners the choice of a lunchtime menu plus a new childrens and evening menu.

“The food served in the evenings will be a little more sophisticated while still being true to the ethos of Artisan which is about serving excellent quality food with a strong use of local produce and flavours. It promises to be a delicious treat for diners in Kendal.”

The new menu will feature daily specials and a separate dessert menu which will change on a regular basis.

Evening mains on the A La Carte menu include National Trust beef and Lancaster Bomber ale pie served with house chips and market vegetables. There’s also a ‘from the region’ lamb neck hotpot with sweet braised red cabbage and brown lentils.

And for fish lovers choices include fillet of sea bass with saffron mash, burst cherry tomatoes and creamed baby spinach or Fleetwood landed smoked haddock and crab fishcakes with spring onion and tartar sauce.

Among the starters is smoked salmon and Flookburgh shrimps in mace butter with a warm toasted muffin or Andrew Ireland’s horseshoe black pudding with herb mash, poached duck egg and English mustard sauce.

A happy hour menu will be available between 4-7pm when a choice of main meals will be on offer at just £4.95. These include fish and chips made with Fleetwood landed cod, creamy leek and potato flan with Sandhams Lancashire cheese and roasted tomatoes and corn fed breast of chicken wrapped in Woodall dry cured ham, pea cream, white bean and asparagus.

There will be a top class wine list to accompany the menu including a choice of sparkling wine, Champagne and dessert wines, many of which are available by the glass as well as the bottle. Beer lovers can choose from a selection of world lagers, real ales and ciders.

First opened by His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales in March 2005, Artisan restaurant offers customers the chance to sample the best food produced in the North West – much of which is created by small artisan producers.
