The Incas might be more famous for inventing chocolate than coffee but now you can have a taste of Inca Gold at home with the new Booths own brand coffee, Podocarpus from Ecuador.
Sourced from Caxarumi in the South of Ecuador and limited to a supply of only 60 sacks a season, this coffee is an exclusive taste of South America, which is only available in Booths stores.
Podocarpus coffee has a distinctive fruity vanilla aroma, a buttery maltiness and conjures up memories of treacle toffee and bonfires - the perfect cup of coffee to start your day full of energy.
Coffee growing is the only source of income for those living in the Caxarumi region and money raised from the coffee goes directly to the growers and their families. Coffee growers’ children attend the ‘Aulestia Bravo’ local school where the conservation of their environment as well as the importance of local coffee production is taught. They are taught how to grow coffee from seeds.
Podocarpus National Park and its surrounding areas are important for conservation due to their high concentration of species such as the endangered Spectacled Bear, many of which can only be found here. The people of Caxarumi play a vital role in looking after the area.
Booths prides itself on its large range of own brand coffees, sourcing only the best and most exclusive beans for grinding. All Booths’ own label coffee is roasted in house and delivered into store the next day.
Podocarpus coffee is priced at £2.49 per 250g bag and available in the majority of our stores.
