Booths is inviting its customers to raise a glass to Fairtrade Fortnight between 22nd February and 7th March.
The leading northern retailer is introducing two new Fairtrade wines - a South African Six Hats Cabernet Sauvignon and Six Hats Sauvignon Blanc both priced at only £6.99 per bottle.
Booths already stocks an impressive range of 11 Fairtrade wines.
The Six Hats Cabernet Sauvignon is rich and full-bodied with concentrated bramble fruit and a softly structured finish. This is an ideal accompaniment to rich casseroles, roasts and venison. The Six Hats Sauvignon Blanc has an elegant balance of fruit flavours and minerality and would be perfectly suited with fresh seafood or creamy pasta dishes. Both wines won’t be found in any other multiple retailer.
Additional Fairtrade wines stocked by Booths include the La Riojana Vinedos de la Posada Torrontes from Argentina, priced at only £6.63 per bottle. This grape is an Argentinian speciality with hints of blossom and citrus, and is great to drink by itself or with lightly spiced dishes.
Red wine lovers should try the Stellar Merlot No Added Sulphur. This wine has a lovely fresh red colour. The first impression on the nose is sweet vanilla ice-cream and oak woodwork shavings. The soft taste is an excellent combination of fruit and wood with warm tannins and rich, ripe flavour. Priced at £5.99.
Other Fairtrade wines stocked at Booths are the Chilean Los Unidos Sauvignon Blanc at £5.10, the South African Stellar Sauvignon Blanc at £5.99, the South African Liberty Chenin Blanc at £5.99, the Chilean Los Robles Merlot Rose at £2.29 and the Argentinian Soluna Organic Malbec at £9.99.
The Fairtrade Foundation aims to improve the lives of disadvantaged producers in the developing world by helping them sell their goods for a fair price. It also encourages as many people as possible to buy Fairtrade products.
